About

Thorsten

About me
Celebrated my 29th birthday for the x-th time this year, living in Bonn, enjoy running for freeing up my mind whenever possible and like coding on this website

What I miss during travels
Laughing with good friends or just sharing some moments together with them, sometimes coming home to a familiar place with everything the way it is used to be…

…and what not
Too much routine in day-to-day life, rainy summer days in Germany (especially while seeing the weather forecast for other locations on this planet)

Things I would have liked to take along, but couldn’t
Running shoes (too specialized to justify the additional weight), Jeans (to not look like a model for an outdoor shop all the time), larger computer (on the other side we are not traveling to surf in the internet *smiley winking* )

…and those I didn’t like to, but needed
Mosquito net (life would be much more comfortable without these nasty little bastards), various medicine for emergencies (that hopefully never happen)

Things I like
Going beyond boundaries and proof it can be done, my German passport which makes traveling to most countries fairly easy, and of course Iris *smiley winking*

…and those I don’t like too much
No coffee in the morning, narrow minded people, and some vegetables

Favorite song
Where my heart will take me (Russell Watson)

Favorite food
Chilli chicken – but at least one level less spicy than Iris’ special *smiley winking*

First thing I will do on a journey
Stop project management, unpack the flip flops and start exploring

What else you should know
Depends on what you are interested in…let’s meet for a coffee or beer in case you want to know more *smiley cool*

Thanks
To my parents who gave me a very good education and support wherever needed, without which I couldn’t do what I am doing today – and to Iris for having found me and sharing so many great moments together

Favorite post
Changes over time. For now this one about our experience in Bhutan:

Iris

About me
Feeling younger than I am *smiley winking* , also living in Bonn, trying to cuddle every cat in the neighborhood and love cooking to free up my mind and fill up my stomach

What I miss during travels
Spontaneously meeting good friends and spending time with them

…and what not
Day-to-day routines, office days without really breathing fresh air all day long

Things I would have liked to take along, but couldn’t
A cat *smiley cat* … friends and family. If more – but not too much: some nice cloths, shoes and jewellery

…and those I didn’t like to, but needed
Bug spray, heavy hiking shoes, emergency medicine

Things I like
What makes my life easier: Mosquito net for relaxed sleep, German passport for easy immigration in all countries (one exception). Of course I also like exploring the world… and Thorsten *smiley smiling*

…and those I don’t like too much
Roosters next to the hostel, narrow minded people, fish and evil-smelling things, instant cafe

Favorite song
There is no shortlist *smiley smiling*

Favorite food
Tons of salad, veggies, Asian food, spicy stuff and dark chocolate

First thing I will do on a journey
Put on flip flops and check out where to start

What else you should know
Find it out yourself *smiley smiling*

Thanks
To my parents for taking me to Africa, India, Australia and many more places already as a kid, supporting me in terms of education which makes my lifestyle possible and with my first serious backpacking idea they didn’t like in the beginning (China with neither guidebook nor dictionary, just my passport, a backpack and a return flight 6 weeks later); to those who helped me getting started with backpacking – and to Thorsten, who I want to travel with not only once around the world and share all those great moments…
